Summer 2024 Arts Herndon Internship Opportunity

Arts Herndon is accepting applications for a summer intern. College students (including Class of 2024 high school graduates) residing in the Town of Herndon are encouraged to apply.

Duties

The intern will assist with a myriad of service activities, which may include:

  • Coordinating events and meetings

  • Assisting artists

  • Researching projects for Arts Herndon and staff

  • Updating lists, such as homeowner association (HOA) contacts

  • Assisting with communications, including writing, graphic design, and social media

The intern should have enthusiasm for the Arts, both visual and performance, and people and be able to work independently.

Skills

Preferred skills include:

  • Familiarity with Greater Herndon area and Fairfax County

  • Effective writing and verbal communications

  • Researching and reporting results

  • Technical skills such as Excel, Microsoft Word, Canva, and databases

  • Foreign language ability

Schedule & Compensation:

Start and end dates are negotiable but will generally track with the student’s summer break/semester calendar.

The intern will be expected to work a minimum of 20 hours/week, with weekly schedules negotiable. Arts Herndon’s

operating hours are 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Tuesday - Saturday with after-hours/weekend availability as needed. The Arts office is located at 750 Center Street, Herndon, VA, and is easily accessible by W &OD Trail, and Fairfax Connector; a car is not necessary for internship eligibility.

Hourly pay is $15.00/hour. If you plan to complete the internship for college credits, let us know in your application.
