About Arts Herndon
Our Story & Impact
Arts Herndon was formed through the merger of two longstanding organizations—the Council for the Arts of Herndon and the Herndon Foundation for the Cultural Arts uniting decades of leadership, advocacy, and community engagement under one mission. Together, these organizations have championed the arts across the region, awarding more than $140,000 in scholarships to local students, supporting public art initiatives including five murals throughout the Town of Herndon, and delivering arts outreach in schools, senior centers, festivals, and public spaces.
In 2008, the Foundation launched ArtSpace Herndon as a bold demonstration project to showcase the value of a dedicated arts center. Its success laid the foundation for today’s Arts Herndon a thriving hub for creativity and connection. From monthly gallery exhibitions to live performances, theatre, improv, music series, poetry, and hands-on classes, Arts Herndon offers a dynamic and inclusive platform for artistic expression.
Today, Arts Herndon continues to support artists at every stage of their journey—through scholarships, grants, professional development, and exhibition and performance opportunities. Our programs extend beyond our walls, bringing arts experiences into the community through festivals, partnerships, and outreach initiatives that engage audiences of all ages.
Located in the heart of historic downtown Herndon, our gallery and performance spaces welcome more than 15,000 visitors each year. We host a robust calendar of exhibitions, competitions, classes, and events, while also providing flexible spaces for community gatherings, workshops, and celebrations.
As our community grows, so does our vision. Arts Herndon is actively working toward the development of a future permanent arts center an expanded home that will allow us to deepen our impact, broaden access, and continue serving as a cultural cornerstone for the region.
